Creamy Tomato
David, whom I love dearly, thinks I don't like tomatoes. He is dead wrong. I like them in sandwiches, chili and soup.
Which brings me to this complaint: why does Campbell's insist on discontinuing my favorite flavors of soup? In high school, it was their Cream of Corn soup. Now, it is their Creamy Tomato soup. They've replaced it with Tomato Bisque, which you might think is just the same as Creamy Tomato, but NO! It is not! There are now pieces of stewed tomatoes floating in the soup.
Sometimes, change is not a good thing.

It would help your credibility as someone who claims to "like" tomatoes if you could tolerate pieces of stewed tomatoes. However, I still love you dearly.
Just because I don't like the texture of stewed tomatoes, does not mean that I don't like the taste of them. It's the same reason that I did not eat mushrooms for years--too squishy.
I love watching you guys duke it out on your blogs. How sweet! :)
I'm with you Marn, stewed tomato pieces are ick. Plus, they don't go with grilled cheese the way creamy tomato soup does. And that's akin to sacrilege!
Exactly! Thanks for understanding KT. :)
haha. that's funny because all my life i loved tomato bisque soup and my mom would by it by the dozen. i'd have it with croutons, or plain or some parmesan or rice. whatever. then it got discontinued, like all my favorite products from bras to socks. in a few select stores, including wegman's, they still carry tomato bisque soup and i do sometimes buy it now because of how much i love it and miss it but also because how rare it is to find. maybe it's a regional thing. i could eat tomatoes as my diet all the time: particularly with fresh mozzarella and basil or spinach and a bit of vinagrette or just as grape or cherry tomatoes right out of their little box.
(A) Is "Anonymous" SKBK?
(B) I make my tomato soup with whole milk. Isn't that the same thing as your dear-departed Cream of Tomato?
No clue who Anon is, but it does sound like SKBK.
Josh, making tomato soup with milk is absolutely not the same thing as Creamy Tomato soup. It sounds like it might be, I realize, but the thickness is just not the same--the soup was not Cream of Tomato, but Creamy Tomato, a soup that was just inherently thicker than a "Cream of" soup.
I realize how ridiculous this sounds. Sigh. This is what studying on a Saturday night has done to my brain.
This might be of some help.
Campbell's offers a Soup At Hand version of Creamy Tomato. I know, I know — it's not the same. But it's a start, right?
I'm just going to weigh in here, go out on a limb and say that I don't think Anon. is SKBK. Yes, the sentiment is spot on, but those two run-on sentences and the "whatever." are dead giveaways.
Good point, SJB. The other dead giveaway is that SKBK isn't on schedule for her twice-yearly pace of showing up on her friends' blogs.
Others have known SKBK longer than I have, but I stand by my assumption.
